Product Description
Apoquel dog allergy medication targets the source of pruritus in dogs to stop the itch within 4 hours of onset. Uniquely targeted to stop dog itching at the source with minimal negative effect on immune function, this treatment provides effective control within 24 hours for itchy skin caused by food allergies, flea allergies, contact dermatitis, and atopic dermatitis. It provides quick short-term relief and reduces inflammation over the long term while your veterinarian determines the underlying cause of the irritation.
How it works: As a selective janus kinase (JAK) inhibitor, the active ingredient oclacitinib targets pruritogenic (itch-creating) cytokines. Unlike common therapies such as steroids, cyclosporines, or antihistamines, this medication targets the key itch signal in the nervous system to stop the itch quickly. It can be used in conjunction with other medications, including NSAIDS, parasiticides, antibiotics, vaccines, and allergen-specific immunotherapy.
